The One School One Nurse Act introduced in Congress aims to assist in the recruitment, hiring, and retention of school nurses at every elementary and secondary public school.
Asthma continues to be one of the most prevalent chronic diseases, affecting 6 million children under 18. This condition often results in missed school days and disrupts learning. In addition, many children suffer from severe allergies, which can lead to life-threatening allergic reactions, or anaphylaxis.
Given the rising number of school-age children with chronic conditions like asthma and severe allergies, it is critical to increase the number of full-time nurses in schools to better support their health needs.
