Advocating for changes in federal or state laws is an important role you can serve to improve the lives of people with asthma, allergies and related conditions.
Laws affect many aspects of our daily lives. Laws are rules that govern how people behave and interact with each other. Laws help keep people safe, protect our rights, and provide guidelines for how we can live together in society.
You can take get involved by advocating for new laws to be created, existing laws to be changed, or old laws to be removed altogether.
Changes for which we commonly advocate include:
- better access to healthcare
- improvements in clean air
- federal funding to improve research, education and services for people
- changes that lead to more equal treatment and opportunities for marginalized groups with asthma, allergies and related conditions.
