The Epinephrine’s Pharma Inflated Price Ends Now Act (EPIPEN Act) is legislation in Congress that aims to make epinephrine auto-injectors affordable and accessible for all Americans who depend on them to survive anaphylactic emergencies. 

Epinephrine is not optional for people with severe allergies. It the only treatment that can prevent death during anaphylaxis. Yet families across our district face an impossible choice: pay hundreds of dollars for a device that expires annually, or risk going without. The current price of auto-injectors, which can exceed $600 for a two-pack, has created a public health crisis where parents ration expired devices, and individuals with severe allergies avoid situations where they might need emergency treatment. 

The bill: 

  • Caps out-of-pocket costs for epinephrine auto-injectors. 
  • Ensures group and individually purchased insurance plans provide affordable coverage for this life-saving medication. 
  • Addresses the financial barriers that force families to ration or go without epinephrine. 
  • Helps prevent deaths from delayed or avoided treatment due to high costs. 
  • Supports consistent access to fresh, effective medication that expires annually.
